The Emergency Relief stock at MarionLIFE Community Services is very low at the moment and we are wondering if you/your community group are in a position to donate one or more of the following items?
Items can be dropped off at MarionLIFE during office hours.
We have run out of: diced tomatoes, cup of soups, tinned soups (chunky), tinned crushed tomatoes, harvest stews, tinned vegetables, pasta, long spaghetti, and full cream milk.
We are low on: tinned spaghetti & baked beans, jams, vegemite, peanut paste, and coffee.
We have run out of: Laundry powder, toothpaste, soap, dishwashing liquid, shaving cream, razors, and deodorant (for both men and women).
We are low on: shampoo, toilet paper, conditioner, and spray n wipe.
Donated items support those in our community who are dealing with unemployment, homelessness, mental health issues, family breakdown and other struggles to access immediate support and give them headspace to navigate a positive way forward. Thank you for your ongoing support of this work.
Camera Club is a group of people who share their passion for photography and meet here monthly. Since its inception many years ago it has been an ‘outreach ministry’ of the MCC, using common interest to share faith and build community. Whist it isn’t a course, there are always opportunities to learn from fellow photographers, build friendships and enter into friendly competitions. Camera Club is very much needing an injection from the Church Community to keep it as a ministry of the Church and would welcome any who have any interest in photography. Please fee free to visit and check out the meetings, which are open to everyone. If you have any questions, Cynthia Henley-Smith or Graham Jones would love to chat with you, or contact the Church Office.
SAFE WATER SEPTEMBER 2018
One Month. Just Water. Raise Funds. Change Lives.
Poverty is a lack of choice.
For one month, experience that lack of choice.
Safe Water September is a challenge to drink nothing but water for the entire month of September, to raise funds for safe water projects in rural Zimbabwe. Yes, you can still eat food, but no coffee, tea, soft drink or milkshakes! For every $20 you raise, one person gains access to life-changing safe water. This means kids are back in school, child and maternal deaths are dropping and communities are being transformed!
Globally, 650 million people don't have access to safe water – we want to change this.
Join us – sign up to take the challenge now!
WHO WE ARE
Safe Water September is the annual fundraising campaign of embody; embody is an initiative of Global Mission Partners.
embody is a national community of young Australians passionate about and participating in global mission through fundraising, advocacy, prayer, lifestyle change, volunteering and going overseas. embody exists to help connect and empower this community as we participate in God’s mission globally.
Global Mission Partners (GMP) is the Churches of Christ overseas mission, aid and development agency. GMP works to support aid and development work, the growth and health of churches around the world, and Indigenous ministries in Australia. Churches of Christ Overseas Aid (COCOA) is the aid and development arm of GMP.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
All money raised from Safe Water September will be distributed through COCOA to our partner organisation in Zimbabwe, Showers of Blessing. The Australian Council for International Development (ACFID), the peak Council for Australian not-for-profit aid and development organisations working to eradicate extreme poverty, accredits COCOA.
Showers of Blessing is an incredible Zimbabwean organisation initiated by and managed by Zimbabweans drilling boreholes in rural areas around Bulawayo. Showers of Blessing gets local communities involved right from the beginning to ensure the project is sustainable long after they leave. Learn more about Showers of Blessing:
