Over recent weeks we have been looking over the Ten Commandments that God communicated to Moses, that are recorded in Exodus chapter twenty. Last Sunday Lawrie McArthur spoke on the ninth commandment “the false witness rule” as recorded in Exodus 20:16, “you shall not give false testimony against your neighbour.”

Lawrie reminded us that as with the other commandments listed in Exodus, Jesus took them into a New Testament setting and breathed deeper meanings into them,. Jesus showed new positive ways of living, especially towards God, other people around us and our neighbours.

In fact, as Lawrie pointed out Jesus gave his top two priority commandments, as recorded in Mark 12:29-31 “Hear O Israel; the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this, love your neighbour as yourself.”

Lawrie also reminded us that we, living out as Christians, may be the only Bible many people that we come in contact with will ‘read’. So let us take the challenge and make sure we shine brightly for Jesus.
